OAKLAND, CA — Today, the California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) released the following statement on Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi announcing her retirement from Congress.
Statement from Mary Creasman, Chief Executive Officer, California Environmental Voters:
“Nancy Pelosi leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of leadership as the most effective and pro-climate Speaker in modern history. Her historic tenure is marked by the bold action needed to protect voting rights, safeguard public lands, strengthen environmental protections, and hold Big Oil accountable. Thanks to her vision and tenacity the largest infrastructure and climate investments in U.S. history were made reality.
As the first woman to hold the Speakership and one of the strongest coalition-builders of our time, Pelosi helped elect the most diverse Congress in history and set a standard that will influence a generation of lawmakers to come. America deserves more legacies like hers: leaders willing to stand up to corporate polluters and fight for Californians and working families every step of the way.”

ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS
California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
